About North Hawai'i Community Hospital
North Hawai'i Community Hospital (NHCH) was proud to sponsor the 11th National Symposium of the Association of Healing Healthcare Projects in September 2002. NHCH is a full-service, acute care hospital centrally located in Waimea (Kamuela) on the Big Island of Hawai'i. Governed by a local board of directors, this prototypical community-owned, non-profit hospital opened in May 1996 and primarily serves the 30,000 residents and visitors of the northern region of the Big Island. NHCH offers a full spectrum of acute care hospital services with a commitment to patient-centered care that treats the patient as a whole person—mind, body, and spirit—in the context of family, culture, and community. Designed as a "healing instrument," NHCH is fast becoming a model for the careful integration of select complementary healing practices with high quality medical care.
OUR MISSION
The Mission of NHCH is to improve the health status of the people of North Hawai'i by improving access to care and providing high quality services at a reasonable cost.
OUR VISION & VALUES
Our vision is to treat the whole individual—mind, body, and spirit—through a team approach to patient-centered care, and ultimately to become the most healing hospital in the world.
As ohana (family), we value an environment of aloha which nurtures trust, respect, self-expression, open minds, and open hearts.
