Craig Hospital is known around the world for excellence in the specialty treatment, research, and management of patients with spinal cord and traumatic brain injury. Its goal is to help patients resume healthy, quality, productive lives. Craig is an 80-bed licensed acute care and rehabilitation hospital in Englewood, Colorado. Its comprehensive system of care begins at the onset of injury, continues through initial rehabilitation, and can assist through a lifetime of follow-up care. Since Craig became a specialty hospital in 1956, it has cared for nearly 20,000 people with spinal cord and traumatic brain injury. It treats approximately 1,400 patients each year and has cared for more patients with spinal cord injuries than any other single facility in the country.

In 1998 Craig Hospital began the integration of Complementary and Alternative Medicine (CAM) within the rehabilitation program. Today an interdisciplinary advisory committee, with consumer and provider membership, continues to develop the CAM program for patients and families. The goal is to integrate CAM practices with traditional medicine in a continuum from illness and injury to health and wellness and to provide resources to assist with physical, emotional, and spiritual balance.

There are several CAM services available to Craig Hospital patients. The C.A.R.E. Channel is a 24-hour television station with ambient relaxation programming that creates an environmental support of the healing process. Guided imagery audiotapes are available free of charge through the Patient Education office. Massage therapy and acupuncture treatments are available for patients on a self-pay agreement. Massage therapy and acupuncture practitioners meet credential requirements of Craig Hospital and maintain professional standards in their respective specialties.
