Program Description The Center for Health and Learning is dedicated to providing opportunities for the individual to learn and grow. Services focused on health and wellness potentiation include a Health Resource Center, a Web-based health information support service, support groups for major medical illnesses, a fully-equipped conference center, and several programs that facilitate lifestyle change. These programs use an integrative healthcare model to help clients move toward better lifestyle choices and achieve greater awareness of the mind-body connection. This integrative model brings together all the components of a healthy lifestyle: physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual. We offer numerous services and seminars, including the following:

  • Health Coach Services This unique offering provides individualized health counseling by a registered nurse to support the client in meeting their personal health goals. Whether it is to reduce cholesterol or blood pressure, prepare for surgery, better manage the impact of stress, or take prevention and wellness measures, the client and Health Coach work together to achieve desired outcomes. Our Health Coaches work within an integrated model of mind-body-spirit and work in collaboration with the client's primary care provider to ensure continuity and quality of care.
  • New Directions Program This 10-week program assists in management of symptoms associated with chronic illness and stress, such as diabetes, heart disease, high blood pressure, chronic pain, fibromyalgia, gastrointestinal disorders, anxiety, and insomnia. This program is also for those who simply want to live a healthier life and have a greater sense of well-being. Components of the program include education on health-related topics, movement (tai chi), stress management, self-help tools, behavior modification, and spirituality. Participants are given up-to-date researched information and are provided the structure and support needed to integrate INFORMATION into ACTION. The program integrates allopathic and mind-body medicine.
  • Life Choice Seminar Life Choice is a one-day seminar to increase awareness of how our daily habits impact our health and well-being. Based on the science of psycho-neuro-immunology and the mind-body-spirit link to health, participants learn that there is much more to health than just diet and exercise. This seminar provides tools to support participants in creating more of the health they desire.
  • Health Resource Center The Health Resource Center is the physical focal point of the Center for Health and Learning. It offers a unique combination of health-related books and gifts for sale, a free lending library, medical library, free Internet access for health research, and Health Coach services.
  • People-Centered Teams: Healing Our WorkplaceSM This is a two-day workshop providing tools that directly address workplace health and the creation and maintenance of healthy relationships. While focused primarily on the workplace, the skills apply and transfer to our personal lives as well, increasing personal and organizational well-being and success.
  • Resiliency and Renewal: Healing Our Workplace II In this two-day workshop that builds on the skills from People-Centered Teams, participants learn concrete skills to help them be more resilient and to manage adversity more effectively. This leads to greater success, increased personal satisfaction, and the ability to renew. Skills are provided to recognize resilient vs. non-resilient thoughts and behaviors, improve interpersonal communication, increase personal accountability, and to coach and to be coached.
